About Us

LAW OFFICE OF MICHAEL T. HALKIAS

About the Firm

The Law Office of Michael T. Halkias has served New Jersey families, landlords, business owners, and franchisees for 38 years. The firm built its reputation on closings that are thorough, leases that hold up, and clients who come back and refer their families and friends. Thousands of transactions later, the practice still runs on the same principle Michael started with: pick up the phone, do the work, and tell the client the truth.

Kyrus Mohta has joined the firm, bringing an active New York practice and an expanded litigation focus. The firm now offers the same hands-on, partner-level practice across New York and New Jersey.

The Experts at Your Service

Michael T. Halkias

Attorney

Michael T. Halkias has practiced law in New Jersey for 38 years. A graduate of Rutgers Law School in Newark, Michael opened his Clifton practice to deliver the kind of partner-level attention he believed clients deserved — and never moved. Over nearly four decades, he has closed thousands of real estate transactions, negotiated business deals across industries, and represented landlords, business owners, franchisees, and homeowners in state courts and municipal hearings throughout New Jersey.

Kyrus Mohta

Attorney

Kyrus Mohta is an attorney admitted in New York and New Jersey whose practice spans real estate, business transactions, and civil litigation.

Kyrus graduated from American University’s Washington College of Law and began his legal career as an Assistant District Attorney at the Bronx County District Attorney’s Office. There, he handled a high-volume felony and misdemeanor caseload that included attempted murders, armed robberies, and serious assaults, prosecuting cases from inception through verdict. That early trial experience sharpened the courtroom instincts and disciplined case preparation that continue to define his practice today.

He then joined a large national defense firm, where he represented insurance carriers and Fortune 500 companies in high-exposure civil matters involving construction accidents, premises liability, product liability, property damage, and professional negligence. He later moved to a boutique litigation firm, where he worked on multi-million dollar lawsuits and gained deeper experience with complex damages and plaintiff-side strategy.

His practice now centers on real estate law, business transactions, and select civil litigation, with work that spans both the courtroom and the deal room. On the real estate side, he represents buyers, sellers, landlords, and property owners in residential and commercial transactions. On the transactional side, he counsels small businesses and entrepreneurs, bringing a litigator’s eye to the documents that clients hope they will never need to enforce.
